BAS vs BCP
Greetings and Salutations in Christ! I have been longing for a Canadian Anglican group to spring up somewhere on the internet and not surprisingly I have finally found it here on livejournal. I attend an Anglican church and am wondering what others think about the Book of Alternative Services which seems to have replaced the Book of Common Prayer. My preference is for the latter, I love the language and tradition and the fact that it is so firmly rooted in Scripture. I find services based upon the BAS to be confusing at times and somewhat less inspiring, perhaps it is just me. There have been no posts to this community as of yet so I hope the moderator(s) do not mind that I have taken it upon myself to remedy this. :) I have been thinking about putting together a community to celebrate and discuss the wonderful intricacies of the BCP but perhaps this forum will do. At the church I attend the only way to get a BCP service is to attend worship on Wednesday afternoons. There is the Prayer Book Society of Canada
which is dedicated to preserving the rich traditions of the BCP and you will find a wonderful wealth of resources there should you want to explore the BCP.
Thank you for providing this wonderful community and perhaps it will pick up momentum now that there is a post. ;)
